Abstract: In this talk, we discuss first recent progress in the study of the existence of multiple periodic oscillations in suspension bridge systems governed by coupled nonlinear beam and wave equations. Then we present the study of the existence problem via a variational reduction method. At the end of this talk, we discuss some open problems related to control of suspension bridge systems.
